A Light with a Heart

Mothers are gifts God gave us for us to experience His love to us. With their unconditional love and sacrifices we were able to know how to live in this world. But what is amazing about them is that they not only extend their love to their children but even to their grand grandchildren…

My mother, Alicia, grew up in a poor family in Southern Leyte. She is the seventh among eleven siblings. At the age of 13, she went to Manila to work and to continue her studies. She worked as a helper to different families but it was not enough to pursue her studies. She stopped schooling in her third year in high school. Though life was so hard for her, she ever stopped dreaming. My mother was good in relating to other people so she gained so many friends that helped her in her life in Manila.

She settled down with my father in the age of 28. She thought life would be easier that time but it wasn’t that easy. They had 3 daughters, flordeliz, jessa and jonalyn. Our mother was able to take good care of us and always supported us in our dreams. Even when the time my father died, she never let us sees that she is weak. She continue to be strong though she’s old, she was able to show us true love thru her actions.

There came a time that my eldest sister got pregnant. My mother was so disappointed but she doesn’t have any choice but to accept it. She had so many sacrifices just to make our lives better. She got angry to my sister but seeing her granddaughter ease the pain. Until now, she doesn’t consider the little girl her ‘apo’ but her own daughter. She loved her and takes care of her though she’s old. She is happy even if she’s tired because seeing her children with a smile always make s her better.

Mothers will always be a mother. Even if there are many things that they do, their priority is to make sure that her children will always be alright. They are the ones whose love is unconditional, who gives love without expecting anything back.

Now, as are mothers grew old, it’s our part to love them back and take care of them. God created mothers to love children and we, children were created to love our parents.
